Biography

Jenny Hughes is a fashion illustrator and printed textiles designer based in London Subject matter for mixed media drawings and textiles includes the beauty of the natural world and themes of memory, trace , history ; of travels real and imagined.
Fashion Illustrations explore mixed media artworks drawing from life to capture movement and intricate detailing of fashion and costume with a focus on continuous line, vibrant colour, pattern and expressive mark-making .Recently she has begun drawing live at various fashion events alongside London and Paris Fashion Week and loves the challenge and creative energy of live event drawing.
Jenny studied at Central Saint Martins and Nottingham Trent University followed by Post Graduate study at Goldsmiths College specialising in textiles design. She was awarded a British Council Post Graduate scholarship to study printed textiles and costume at the Applied Arts Academy in Budapest and also spent time researching eco textiles at Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen. These intensive periods of study abroad had a profound effect on her work and ignited an interest in exploring cultures and travel; a wanderlust that continues to inspire and inform her work. She has an MA in Textiles and has taught Fashion and Textiles within Higher Education for many years. 
Jenny has exhibited her textiles , fashion illustrations and drawings at Premier Vision, Paris and 100% Design London alongside independent galleries in the UK and in Europe . She continues to work within the textile medium, exploring an eco focussed approach to designing and making.. currently experimenting with creating fashion illustrations with botanical inks and creating a series of hand drawn and collaged digitally printed silk scarves exploring the natural world.. Working within the fashion illustration and textile media, Jenny has an eco focussed approach to drawing designing and making.
Jenny has worked as a freelance designer for Ralph Lauren, Jean Paul Gaultier , Jigsaw and Marks and Spencer among other clients and has recently created fashion illustrations for independent designers at London Fashion Week S/S 25 and Paris Fashion Week S/S 25.
