 Biography

Castellar Montero is a Spanish illustrator and fashion designer. Following her desire to express herself artistically in capturing the beauty in the forms, balance and also strength of the expressions. In that sense, she has always been captivated by portraits, facial details, what they enclose and suggest.

For her what the image transmits to us is very important. The emotions that we hide and subtly tell us who we are. Evoking an atmosphere that surrounds the illustration and gives it life, volume and takes it to the third dimension. 

Merging a love of colour with the simplicity of line which follows a minimalist approach inspired by light, enveloping everything with an aura of mist. 

"I love contrasts and colour games without losing balance towards elegance and clean marks".

Highlighting themes drawn from the feminine form. She is inspired by the sensuality found in the unusual. Art, design and concepts that relate to sustainability and existentialism are also significant.

Driven to explore unique processes through traditional techniques Castellar uses the movement and soft chaos of watercolour and ink to bring the illustrations to life. 

Similar to a double exposed photograph which draws us closer into her work. We're engaged to decipher the mysterious shapes contained in the depth of her textural transparencies, led by her spontaneous expression in a game of provocation.
